The Universal Precautions course is designed to provide you with training and information on the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard if you are at risk of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials (OPIM). This interactive online compliance course is self-paced and was developed according to the OSHA standard, a federal mandate requiring the use of Universal Precautions and other engineering and work practice controls to provide a safe workplace for those employees.
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the mission of OSHA
- Describe how bloodborne pathogens are transmitted
- Identify universal precautions
- Identify items that are considered regulated waste
- Identify work practice controls
- Describe important steps to take if exposed to the blood of a patient
This 13 hour time-on-task course is most appropriate if you work, or would like to work, in a medical office or hospital setting.
